Black Lives Matter

As we have organized with community and the Bronx Brigade, we have seen the systems of injustice that affect the black community at work and far beyond. Our members represent a diverse array of New Yorkers, but we continue to push for more inclusivity. We are not the building trades of the past, but that does not mean there still isn’t more work to be done.

In the words of Mike Prohaska, Business Manager of Local 79, “We cannot represent our members at work while turning a blind eye to racial oppression and discrimination suffered by them outside the jobsite. As a Union it is our moral obligation to condemn racism. Now is not the time for silence.”
